Wur-cum Barra Toolkit Introduction

WELCOME

This electronic Toolkit has been designed to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, experience and useful tools (eg sample policies, strategies and resources) that will help create greater employment opportunities for Indigenous people.

The information is presented under the six Key Result Areas (KRAs) contained in the Wur-cum barra Strategy, which sets out the Government's commitment to improving Indigenous employment in Victoria.

Each section contains a brief overview of critical issues and is then supported by electronic links to various tools and resources.

A wide range of tools has been included. Some of these may, in fact, be earlier strategies or policies that have since been replaced or revised by the organisation concerned. These earlier documents or tools have still been included as they provide a useful guide for organisations that are in the early stages of developing their Indigenous Employment Plans.

At all times the original authorship of these tools is acknowledged. If your agency wishes to use or reproduce sections of any of the material we suggest you contact the department or agency that produced the original documents. In this way you avoid any copyright breaches and in most cases permission will be granted on the proviso that the original source is acknowledged.

Given the dynamic nature of websites, it is possible that some of the links (either to the tools or within the tools) may become inactive over time. The Office of Public Employment will periodically review all the links and tools to maintain the currency and value of this Toolkit. However, in the interim you can help us by sending any feedback on inactive links, or suggestions and new policies or tools, to wur-cum barra.

OPE conducted a Wur-cum barra Strategy Workshop for Health Sector organisations to assist with the development of Indigenous employment plans and to look at some of the specific issues facing the Health Sector. Click here to see the Workshop Manual used at the Workshop on the 15th December 2004.

Recently, the Office of Public Employment ran a Regional Forums series throughout Victoria on Wur-cum barra. Click here for Focus 44, Winter Edition (see the supplementary article at the end of the list).

In addition, scOPE 14: Indigenous Supply and Demand is now ready. Click here to learn more about Indigenous labor market issues in Victoria.
