Review of VicRoads
In June 2008, the Minister for Roads and Ports requested the State Services Authority (the Authority) to review the governance and operational capability of VicRoads. This was in the context of developing a more integrated approach to transport planning and delivery. The final report was submitted to the Minister on 27 November 2008.
On 24 April 2009, the Victorian State Government responded to the Report.
Review of Alpine Resort Areas
In October 2007, the Minister for Environment and Climate Change requested that the Authority undertake a Review of the Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council and five Alpine Resorts Management Boards (the Review). The Review examined the effectiveness of the institutional and governance arrangements of Victoria's alpine resort areas. The final report was submitted to the Minister on 30 June 2008.
The Review was overseen by Des Powell
, Commissioner.
Review of Regional Management Forums
In March 2007, Minister for Victorian Communities requested that the Authority conduct a review of the governance and effectiveness of Regional Management Forums. Regional Management Forums have been established to facilitate collaboration between Victorian Government departments and local government.
The final report was submitted to the Minister on 30 November 2007.
Review of Not-for-Profit Regulation
In September 2006, the Treasurer requested that the Authority undertake a
Review of Not-for-Profit Regulation (the Review). The Review examined the impact of government regulation and other reporting requirements on the Not-for-Profit sector. The final report was submitted to the Premier and Treasurer on 30 September 2007. The Review was overseen by
Susan Pascoe AM, Commissioner.

On 9 April 2008, the Victorian State Government released the
Action Plan: Strengthening Community Organisations. This outlines the Government's response to both the
Review of Not-for-Profit Regulation and the Report of the
Stronger Community Organisations Project.

Review of Government Funded Financial Counselling Services
In November 2007, the Premier requested that the Authority undertake a Review of Government Funded Financial Counselling Services. The review examined the role, functions and funding of financial counselling services, as well as their effectiveness and responsiveness to the needs of the Victorian community.
The final report was submitted to the Premier on 29 February 2008.

Review of Cemetery Trusts in Victoria
In September 2006, the Minister for Health requested the Authority to review the governance and effectiveness of Victorian cemetery trusts. The Review was overseen by Authority Commissioner, Mick Ellis.
The Minister for Health received the Final Report of the Review of Cemetery Trusts on 30 June 2007 and released it on 3 July 2008, as background to announced changes to the structure and governance arrangements for the cemeteries sector. Further details on the changes are available from the

Review of the Governance and Effectiveness of Rural Ambulance Victoria
The Premier requested the Authority undertake a review of the governance and effectiveness of Rural Ambulance Victoria. The review considered the structures, systems, strategies and skills that Rural Ambulance Victoria needs in order to succeed in the coming years. The Authority was required to provide a Stage 1 Interim Report, with an overview of issues, by 14 July 2006. A Stage 2 (Final) Report is due by 31 December 2006.
The Minister for Health released the
Final Report of the Review of the Governance and Effectiveness of Rural Ambulance Victoria on 22 December 2006. The Review was overseen by Authority Commissioner, Mick Ellis.

Review of the Provision of Hospital Ancillary and Food Services
The Premier requested the Authority undertake a review of the Provision of Hospital Ancillary and Food Services (HA&FS). The Authority was asked to scope the provision of HA&FS; analyse and benchmark the main in-house, outsourcing and joint service processes; review service quality standards and formal audit processes in place; review existing employment mechanisms and consultative processes for employees and contracted staff upon transition between employers. The Review was completed in September 2005.
